My story began over fifty years ago, on a dairy farm in Western Pennsylvania. I was the oldest of three girls, hence the somewhat bossy personality that shows up from time to time. I was painfully shy until high school but eventually found my voice and have not really been at a loss for words since then. I played flute in band, was a member of the mock trial team, and participated in 4-H. After graduating, I attended Grove City College and then began my career in Aberdeen, Maryland, teaching 10th grade English for four years. After marrying my husband, Eric, we relocated to Pennsylvania, and I taught for four years at Dover Intermediate School before starting a family. When my children were young, I stepped away from the classroom to focus my time and energy on being a mom and was fortunate to be hired at EHMIS in 2010. This will be my 11th year of teaching seventh grade. I hold a Master's degree in Reading from McDaniel College and am currently working on an Equity and Excellence certificate. Today, I still carry some of that farm girl with me. I love digging in the dirt and watching things grow, especially wildflowers. Although I don't have quite as much luck with veggies, I still enjoy vine-ripened tomatoes and fresh lettuce from the back yard. I teach Sunday School at my church and love playing games with my family, reading, running, gardening, baking and taking photographs. The picture at the top of the page captures two of my interests |
